Cleto Chiarli, Lambrusco di Sorbara Vecchia, Modena, Italy

$19.99
Lambrusco gets a bad rap. The sweet version that Riunite put on the map in the '80's was sweet, syrupy, & saccharine.

But, great Lambrusco Secco, is dry and crisp and has beautiful acidity.

This dry Lambrusco is made from premium grapes selected in the vines of Azienda Agricola Chiarli of Sozzigalli (Sorbara), located in the fertile soils of northern Modena. Lambrusco di Sorbara is regarded as one of the highest quality clone due to its intensified aromatics. Wine is produced in accordance with the highest standards of quality that Cleto Chiarli designed more than 140 years ago. It is made by a light maceration followed by racking into tank for primary fermentation and then a slow secondary fermentation in closed tanks.

Aromatically the wine is bright, racy, and a touch salty with notes of dehydrated strawberries and fresh herbs. On the palate the bubbles are very fine, with mouthwatering acidity, and just barely ripened red fruit flavors.

Serve Lambrusco chilled to 55 or 60 degrees Fahrenheit in a white wine glass.

Lovely, fresh and lightly sparkling, this vibrant, delightful wine opens with heady violet and red berry scents. The refined, almost ethereal palate delivers crushed raspberry, strawberry, tangerine and ginger notes alongside tangy acidity.

Extending from the Adriatic coast in the east, to the border of the Mediterranean Ligurian region in the west, Emilia Romagna is a large, central Italian region focused on a wide array of gastronomic specialties.
