Cline Cellars 'Farmhouse' Red Blend ‘18, Carneros, CA, Wine Spectator Smart Buy!

$12.00

A Wine Spectator 'Smart Buy' from Carneros!

”A medium-bodied, luscious red wine blend of Rhone red varietals, Syrah, Grenache, & Mouvedre, with nicely balanced acidity, plum, chocolate, and berry notes and a smooth, rich finish.

“Syrah, Grenache and other Rhône-style wines were curiosities in California in the early 1980s. Fred Cline was among the original Rhône Rangers who first championed them. Cline got his start in Oakley, Calif., in San Francisco's East Bay, harvesting from vines in the sandy soils of the Sacramento River Delta in Contra Costa County. The vineyards there are 50 to 100 years old or more. By 1993, Cline and his wife, Nancy, had moved the winery to a 350-acre ranch in the Carneros region of Sonoma County, where they planted Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah, and opened a tasting room in an 1853 farmhouse. Cline Family Cellars is a family-owned winery located in Sonoma Valley, on a 350-acre estate in the Carneros district. The Cline winery and vineyards are built on a foundation of deeply rooted respect for the land, love of winemaking & the desire to not only create a clean, herbicide and chemical-free wine but also to teach future generations about what it means to farm with nature, not against it.
